I distinctly remember learning Galatians 5:22-23, the passage that lists the fruits of the Spirit, as a kid in song, and now, as a mom, my kids often break out in a catchy fruit-of-the-Spirit song whenever someone brings up love, peace, or patience. I love that we have all memorized this bit of Scripture, but I’ve only recently realized how central these fruits are to the Christian life. The fruit of the Spirit is the Christlike character the Holy Spirit develops in us as we learn to walk in step with Him. Almost every sin is born from a moment that we fail to embody these attributes. Galatians 5:22–23 names the fruit of the Spirit: “love, joy, peace, forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control.” These qualities reflect God’s character and reveal the Christlike character the Holy Spirit produces in believers. These fruits describe the very character of God, and this is why it’s so vital that we seek to embody them. Let’s explore together how we can become people who live with the fruits of the Spirit. ❀ ✿✿ ❀Key PointsGalatians 5:22-23 describes the fruit of the Spirit as love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control.These qualities reflect God’s character and grow in believers as they remain rooted in His love and depend on the Holy Spirit.Joy and peace are not limited to easy circumstances; Christians can experience both while trusting God through hardship, conflict, and uncertainty.Patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, and gentleness shape the way believers love others through grace, generosity, humility, and perseverance.Self-control requires discipline and intentionality as believers submit their thoughts, words, actions, and desires to the Holy Spirit and seek to become more like Christ.Photo Credit: ©Getty Images/ Daniel Balakov | Written by Amanda Idleman | iBelieve.com | Read full story at Read More
